On July 1, 2022, DHCS added Community Health Worker (CHW) services as a Medi-Cal benefit — formally recognizing what community-based organizations have known for decades: trusted people from the community are often the most effective bridge to medical care.
Under the benefit, CHWs can provide health education, navigation, screening, and follow-up. They can do home visits. They can help members enroll in services. And critically, those services are reimbursable.
Pacific Health Group's CHWs operate within this benefit, hired from the same communities they serve, with training that meets DHCS requirements.
