CalAIM Community Supports went live on January 1, 2022, building on lessons from the earlier Whole Person Care pilots. In the years since, DHCS quarterly reports have shown steady, accelerating growth in members served and in the number of services each plan is contracting for.
The strategic intent is straightforward: shift Medi-Cal dollars upstream into the housing, food, and care-coordination services that actually keep people out of the hospital.
